The Walking Dead is an American horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont, based on the comic book series of the same nameby Robert Kirkman. Andrew Lincoln plays the show's lead character, sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a months-long coma to confront a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Grimes reunites with his family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to survive in and adapt to a world filled with zombies and some humans who are even more dangerous than the zombies themselves.

The viewers range from 18-49.
When the series is live on television on Fox, the average views weekly is around 3.4 million. The season premieres have consistently broken viewing records, most recently the Season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead on October 11 drew 19.5 million viewers with a staggering 12.84 million among adults 18-49.
According to a recent panel, women have a more “demanding and discerning” palate, preferring to watch procedural crime dramas and reality shows about “real women” dealing with “real issues.” The story of survival becomes very appealing to women, as well as the family aspects and romantic relationships.
For men, women and teenagers the show has many appealing features. Often the series hint and build up to romantic relationships between popular characters. The leading roles are often attractive physically or have charming personalities that are usually the heros. Thrilling storylines often span over the series, keeping the audience gripped. Above all, the gore!!

Since it's release in 2010, there has been 6 series (with the sixth still airing on television). Since the series began, multiple characters have had deep, complicated and sometimes life-threatening storylines. With the over-ridding threat of zombies, the characters live in constant fear and have to risk their lives every day. I have chosen this particular series to design characters for as it will be interesting to create contrasting good and evil characters in a post-apocalyptic world and how makeup can portray this.

Throughout the 6 series, the team of zombie-fighters have visited multiple, more specific locations within the state following the plot lines. For example: The Greene’s Family Farmhouse, Woodbury, Terminus and Alexandria Safe-Zone. Each location gains and loses characters and it will be fun for me to fit in my characters into one or even create my own.
